We are one of the top property investment companies in the Netherlands. Over the past five years, and in line with our Return on Retail strategy, we have systematically divested office properties and invested in quality shopping centers. Every year, the share of retail in the portfolio has been increased. Currently, retail represents 90% of our total investments.
For Rodamco Europe, investing in a shopping center is a long-term commitment. As we manage many of our shopping centers, and also handle leasing for all assets, we are actively involved with retailers and retail and tenant associations on a day-to-day basis. We are also a valued partner for regional and local authorities who play a key role in the retail environment in cities and towns. Local authorities are crucial to management of high-street retail areas, where, with more than 300 shops throughout the country, we are also a significant owner.
On the asset selection side, we are known as quality cherry pickers. Commitment to growing the value of our assets through extension and refurbishment programs. We also have an extensive pipeline portfolio, working in close cooperation with some of the Netherlands’ major developers.
In combination, our owner/manager roles give us a unique knowledge of and experience in all aspects of the retail property business. In our view, quality is the key to successful growth of both the portfolio and shareholder value. Our goal is quality in everything we do.
